Sometimes you just have to get an interface to make a headset work on MAC, such as the "imic" by Griffin Technologies.

You are correct, unless you try to use a headset with 1/8" jacks on a Mac. I've tried at least 3 sets. Do you know of an over-the-head set with one earpiece and boom mike that will work with an iMac (Intel)?

A standard telephone with RJ9 works fine, but is not practical for all day use.

My Overture PC Headset works great with my Windows laptop, but with the Mac....zip, apparently because the Mac does not have a built-in pre-amp.
