A: Yes, but only if you have the AWH-55 plugged into a handset jack. The training adapter will not work if you are using the AWH-55 (or any other system) with one of the Avaya model phones that have a EU24 port and doesn’t need a handset lifter. You would have to unplug the AWH-55 from the headset jack and use it through the handset jack. The Training Adapter will only work plugged into a handset jack on a telephone, it will not work through any of the headset jacks.

Can I use the Plantronics CS55 headset with the charging stand from my CS351N headset?

A: Unfortunately, the base unit of the CS351N is not interchangeable with the CS55 headset. The charging unit for your CS351N was designed to hold the CS351 headset, consequently, the contact points match up perfectly with the contact points on that headset. Since the CS55 headset will not fit into your charging unity properly, the contact points will not match up, and the CS55 will not get charged.

A: According to our compatibility guide and research, the Cisco 7912 does not have a dedicated headset port on the phone, so it does not support a direct-connect headest like the HW261N-CIS, which comes with the connecting cable. It will require an Audio processor (amplifier) like the M22 or AP15. You can use the HW261N (same as the CIS model but without the connecting cable) with either of the two audio processors.

What will happen if I plug an analog phone into my digital line at work?

A: First of all, the T10 is just not going to work with a digital phone system (unless of course someone rigged up or installed some sort of analog jack). The T10 is a single line telephone with a headset only for use with an analog jack like you typically have at home. If you try to use a T10 with your digital phone system (digital line), when you press the on/off button to take or make a call, the phone tries to draw an electrical current to operate. Since the typical proprietary digital phone system has no facilities to regulate the current being drawn through it, your analog phone can draw too much current-so much that it fries itself or in rare cases, damages the phone system’s line card. So in a nutshell, the circuitry is just not compatible. This also goes for the T10H and the two line T20 as well.

Q: I use Nortel T7316E phones, can I use just 1 headset?

A: Yes! The Nortel T7316E phones are “headset ready” and have a dedicated headset jack, you would typically use a Plantronics H-series headset with an A10 (66268-02) bottom cable. We don’t have any sort of integrated device that will connect the two phones that will let you switch at the press of a button. But if you have two A10 cords (1 for each phone) plugged into both headset jacks, you can just quickly unplug the headset at the quick disconnect break away and re-plug into the 2nd cable. Now this isn’t as streamlined as pressing a button, but it only takes 2 seconds to do (which is quicker and easier than changing headsets).

Q: I use a ShoreTel 265 phone at work and I need to find out if the AWH-55 Wireless Headset will work with this phone. I would like to be able to answer the phone from the headset without the use of a handset lifter so please let me know what model would work with my phone.

A: Here is what is recommended for the ShoreTel IP 265 Telephone: Instead of the AWH-55, you want to use the Plantronics CS55 ($225.00). Physically, it looks similar to the AWH-55 but it works on a different frequency (1.9 GHz) that will not interfere with your wireless Internet connections in the office and it has up to 10 hours of talk time. To connect it to your phone without having to use a handset lifter, you will need the RD-1 adapter cable (#78887-01, $24.95) which allows for remote call answer/end.

A: Up until about 6 months ago, Plantronics made a line of headsets called the Polaris series Headset. These headsets were designed to work with phones like the Nortel that have a built-in amplifier. Plantronics no longer manufactures the Polaris headsets because they came out with the A-10 Cable. The A-10 Cable allows any of their H-Series Headsets to work effectively with phones, which in the past, required the Polaris headset. However, the polaris cable is not designed to work with an H-Series headset because the circuitry is not compatible.
